Sobre Jennifer VanGilder

Jen grew up in the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania - a resort, mountain/lake area that caters to families vacationing. Usual activities include swimming, sailing, fishing, golf, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, hiking, and hunting. Her family owns and operates Jubilee Restaurant, a family establishment known for their breakfasts and wings, and which has been in business for nearly 50 years. A favorite part of being involved in the family business for Jen has been building and fostering relationships with customers, and seeing them return again and again for the food and service, often over multi generations. She has held every job in the business from waitress, dishwasher to bartender. Jen also worked in higher education as a counselor and professor for a dozen years, and now is a consultant for one of the leading software companies in higher education. Her job involves extensive, nationwide travel, and Jen's life is full of opportunities to explore new cities, discover local culture and flavors, and meet wonderful people. She has relocated to the Pacific Northwest, in Portland, Oregon and loves all that the region has to offer: art, culture, culinary experiences, hiking, wineries, coastal living, and much more. She wants to get off the road, so the speak, and start up a glamping business to create a place where fellow, like-minded travelers can enjoy the nature of Pacific Northwest in laid-back comfort and ease. Jen hopes to situate her startup where glampers can enjoy the experience of camping in the outdoors without the fuss of organizing details, where they can easily jut over to the coast to explore the beaches and tide pools, plan a 1/2 day or full day hike nearby, or traipse through wine country. Her vision encompasses a camp ideally located between the coast and Willamette Valley, and offers comforts of home for adult travelers. Warm comfortable beds, in simply decorated safari tents (5), a comfort station, mess tent, and provided non-alcoholic beverages and a continental breakfast are part of her initial vision. Jen hopes to expand the glamp further, in time, to include deluxe safari tents, a Northwest inspired menu, outdoor games/activities, entertainment, dining events, wine tastings, and spa services. Jen wants a business that is eco-friendly, assists in the development of tourism, and supports farm diversification. Jen's vision for her glamping business is to provide camping accommodations in the Pacific Northwest, along with the luxuries of home, to adults wanting to explore the area, travel, get away, or out of the city - without them having to invest the planning, time, efforts, and ultimately, headaches to make a getaway fun, enjoyable and comfortable.
