Am the Vice-Chairman of Marriott International Inc. i have held this post since May 2009. I received BA from University of Notre Dame and MBA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1972. i joined the Marriott hotel company in 1974, was elected Corporate Controller in 1979, and a company Vice President in 1982. In 1986, i became Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of Marriott Corporation. i was elected Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Marriott Corporation in April 1988. In February 1992, i was elected President of the Marriott Service Group. Between March 1997 and April 2009, i served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Marriott International, before taking up my current position as Vice-Chairman.
i am on board of trustees of the University of Notre Dame, the Suburban Hospital Foundation, the Wolf Trap Foundation of the Performing Arts, Washington Mutual Investor Fund,[1] board of directors and the NCAA Leadership Advisory Board. i have been a director of Marriott International, or its predecessors, since 1997, and am currently serving a term expiring at the 2008 annual meeting of shareholders.I am a member of the Board of Directors of our general partner. I was the Vice Chairman of Marriott International, Inc. until my retirement in March 2011. Prior to becoming Vice Chairman of Marriott, i served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Marriott from 1997 until 2009. i joined Marriott in 1972 and has held various positions, including Corporate Controller, Corporate Vice President, Senior Vice President-Finance, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, and President of Marriott Service Group. Prior to joining Marriott, i worked at Arthur Andersen & Co. am the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Marriot Vacations Worldwide Corporation, serves on the Board of Trustees of three funds in the American Family of mutual funds, and i am a former director of Marriott International, Inc. from March 1997 through February 2011. i graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received an M.B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis. i also serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Notre Dame and the Board of Directors of the United Negro College Fund.
