Sobre Azzy Vera-Cobos

This is my story. At school, I constantly failed in Maths and I was told I could never be successful working with numbers. I have since managed client portfolios with more than $20 Million advertising investment. At college I was told that not sticking to the briefs guidelines would always have a detrimental impact in my career. A few years later, I had the chance to represent Spain as a Young Lion in the Cannes Festival. In 2014 in Australia, there were just a few Spanish people working in the Digital Media industry. Not only I managed to get sponsored by a multinational company, but I also got promoted to Digital Media Director after working for 7 months. During my time in Sydney as a Strategist, I was the only Spanish Strategy Director in Australia. In 12 years I have worked for amazing clients in Spain and Australia such as P&G, Kimberly-Clark, Colgate, Mastercard, American Express, Barclays, Peugeot, Chandon, PANDORA, David Jones, Sanitarium, etc. In August 2018, I returned to my hometown (Málaga - Spain), looking for new exciting challenges. Since I landed, I participated (& won!) the Demium AllStartup36 competition and I joined Promálaga Mentoring as the Marketing Mentor for entrepreneurs & small businesses in Málaga. I genuinely enjoy helping, just good old fashioned 1:1 problem solving. I realised that my marketing expertise working for big accounts was helpful to help other companies grow. Since April 2019, I work providing marketing support for startups. I also teach Marketing at Foxize, EDIX, ESESA & ESIC. In January 2023, I joined Startup Wise Guys as the Product Lead of the Angels Up Academy and in January 2024 I got promoted to Head of Scouting. I am also the founder of Doers Talks, a non-profit event whose main objective is to spread professional success stories in which the speakers themselves have personally participated, in the form of 20 minutes powerful talks. In addition, we have a collaboration agreement with AMAPPACE (the Cerebral Palsy Care Association of Malaga) in order to raise funds to improve its pediatric facilities. The first edition happened on the 22nd of September in Málaga. Bring it on 2024!
