Astra Spacelines, will provide safe, frequent transportation of passengers and freight into space. A key differentiator from other ventures is Astra's strategy to use horizontal launches and landings similar to the NASA flights that piggybacked a shuttle on top of an airplane. Company founder Troy Booher says this method is cheaper by using environmentally safer propellants and reusable sustainable technology-and also is safer than the vertical rocket launches competitors generally plan to adopt. Capitalizing on the estimated $1 billion space tourism market and the multi-billion-dollar commercial market (comprised of pharmaceutical, space mining, satellite communication companies, and other organizations seeking confidentiality or entry into space markets), Troy has assembled a team of partners with experience and expertise to lift the venture off the ground.
