Short summary: WinterSunTV is a growing subscription-based VoD platform launched in Aug 2019 streaming independent shorts and web series from around the world. We work with a 50% revenue share deal with all the content providers. https://wintersuntv.com The Business: WinterSunTV works on a subscription model and charges a flat rate to the customers on a monthly/yearly basis. The charges vary/geography. Non-premium content is free to watch (no subscription required). However a subscription is required to watch premium content. Content: Shorts and web series in all major languages (eg. English, Hindi, French, Spanish etc) across genres (eg. Action, Drama, Comedy, Thriller, Suspense, Horror etc). Streaming Devices: We currently operate the web application. Android app is in development and will be released in Feb 2020. The Market: The VoD industry is booming across the world. Though most of the well known platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime stream commercial feature length films and series, we focus only on independent shorts and web series. This is a huge untapped market with millions of independent filmmakers across the world making amazing films and usually struggle to find a platform to showcase their work. WinterSunTV provides such an opportunity making these films reach global audience as well as monetize based on viewership. This is a low-risk operating model as we pay the content providers only 50% of the monthly subscription revenues and the other 50% is kept by the company to cover operating costs and profits. Progress: WinterSunTV was launched in August 2019 and has been making slow but steady progress. As of Jan 2020, we have 300+ subscribers. This is the result of paid promotions on Facebook and Insta platforms. Though this is a good number for a 5-month old brand, we would need additional funding to enable our platform to reach large number of people around the world. We were accepting only Indian content up to the end of Dec 2019 to test the stability and iron-out our operating processes. Now we are accepting international content and hence international audience. WinterSunTV was featured in the Malayalam business magazine "Effective Adcom" in November 2019 as a growing VoD platform. Objectives/Future: Short-Term Goals: Our immediate short-term goal would be to build and release the Android, iOS and SmartTV apps. Android app is already in the testing stage and would be rolled out by Feb 2020. Once funding is in place, we would invest in developing the iOS and SmartTV apps which would ensure wider audience reach. Long-Term Goals: In the long run, we continue to focus on acquiring streaming rights for amazing independent shorts and web series and expand our catalogue as well as revenue through subscriptions. Investments would be used for: 1. iOS and SmartTV apps 2. Digital marketing of the brand to reach global audience 3. Hire talent for content acquisition, customer support, operations management etc. Revenue-Cost-Breakeven: Assuming 15% increase in subscriptions per month, breakeven will be achieved in 35 months. Assuming 20% increase in subscriptions per month, breakeven will be achieved in 27 months. Investment: We are looking for a funding amount of INR 1.63cr (approximately USD 230,000 or GBP 180,000) in return for 30% equity.
