¿En qué consiste la oportunidad de inversión?
Avant Devices was created with the goal of transforming assisted mobility through technological solutions that are more versatile, accessible, and adapted to the real lives of people with disabilities and reduced mobility.
The project emerged from the personal experience of its founder and CEO, Juan Antonio Carrasco, who has lived since birth with a rare disease and later suffered a spinal cord injury that forced him to completely rethink his mobility. After years of using different assistive solutions, he identified a common limitation in many existing devices: they were designed to adapt to the user, but not to the user's real life.
This direct experience has shaped the development of Explorer One from its origins. Aspects such as its modular architecture, the optimized weight of the system, the possibility of installation and removal by the user themselves, interchangeable batteries, and adaptation to different terrains through specific wheels respond to real needs identified over years of everyday use and not solely to technical design considerations.
Most electric mobility devices available are designed primarily for smooth surfaces and urban travel, leaving out everyday scenarios such as rural paths, beaches, uneven terrain, or areas with limited accessibility.

In addition, many current solutions continue to be closed and inflexible systems, designed for a single environment or specific need. This forces many users to choose between maintaining multiple mobility solutions—with the resulting increase in acquisition, storage, transportation, and maintenance costs—or giving up certain activities and environments due to the lack of suitable alternatives.

These devices specifically designed for such environments usually involve high additional investments and are limited to use in very specific situations.
This market fragmentation creates an economic and functional barrier for millions of people with reduced mobility around the world, generating a growing demand for more versatile, adaptable, and accessible solutions capable of addressing multiple needs with a single device.
In response to this challenge, Avant Devices develops Explorer One, an adaptable electric conversion kit that allows a manual wheelchair to be transformed into a motorized device integrated into the wheelchair itself, offering quick deployment, simplicity, and versatility. The Explorer One Kit has been designed to facilitate installation and removal even by the user themselves, while maintaining balanced weight distribution and a modular architecture focused on autonomy and ease of maintenance.

Explorer One incorporates an interchangeable rear wheel system that allows the device to be adapted to different usage environments, from urban settings to rural terrain or beaches. This is complemented by a modular and interchangeable battery system that extends range and facilitates the continued use of the device during long-distance travel.

The company is committed to a product philosophy focused on:
- Real mobility across different terrains.
- Modularity and ease of repair.
- Reducing access barriers.
- User autonomy and independence.
- Connected mobility systems.
- Operational continuity through easily replaceable components.
Beyond its initial product, Avant Devices is evolving into a comprehensive connected assisted mobility platform. Its medium- and long-term vision includes the development of new technological solutions and services centered around the user, including:
- Sensing and safety systems.
- Monitoring and control applications.
- Connectivity and remote communication.
- Route and autonomy optimization.
- Intelligent assistance.
- Predictive maintenance.
- Mobility and membership programs for users and distributors.
The company's model combines modular hardware, a specialized distribution network made up of orthotics and prosthetics providers, associations, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and specialized distributors, together with the progressive development of value-added technological services associated with assisted mobility.
Currently, Avant Devices has a functional Explorer One MVP validated in urban environments, rural settings, and beaches. The company is working on defining its production and commercial scaling strategy, initially relying on specialized external manufacturing to accelerate its market entry and ensure the highest quality standards.
In the medium term, Avant Devices plans the gradual integration of its own production capabilities for certain product lines and future technological solutions, thereby strengthening its innovation capacity, industrial control, and international growth.
Although its initial commercial focus is Spain, Portugal, and Western Europe, the company maintains an international vision aimed at high-potential markets such as North America and Canada. Likewise, Latin America represents a particularly relevant strategic opportunity due to existing accessibility limitations across many territories and the need for more versatile, accessible solutions adapted to real-world environments.
The vision of Avant Devices is to become an international benchmark in modular, connected, and accessible assisted mobility solutions, driving mobility without limits for millions of people around the world.

Structurally growing market
- Avant Devices operates in the assisted mobility and electric wheelchair sector, a multi-billion-euro global market driven by population aging, increased life expectancy, and a growing demand for personal autonomy.
- The electric wheelchair segment shows annual growth forecasts above 12% according to various industry studies, creating an attractive opportunity for innovative advanced mobility solutions.
Validated product and reduction of technological risk
- Explorer One features an advanced MVP that has already been tested in urban, rural, and beach environments, demonstrating its functionality and significantly reducing technical risk compared to early-stage development projects.
- The company is currently in the process of obtaining CE certification as a Class I medical device, industrialization, and preparation of initial commercial production runs, milestones that can significantly increase the company’s value.
Competitive value proposition
- Explorer One offers a base kit with an estimated price starting from €4,500 (excl. VAT) and an advanced version around €5,900, positioning itself well below other all-terrain electric solutions that can exceed €15,000–€25,000.
- Its proposal combines affordability, versatility, and multi-terrain capability, enabling greater mobility freedom for manual wheelchair users.
Business model with attractive margins
- The company estimates a target gross margin of 58% in direct sales and approximately 40% through distributor channels.
- The initial weighted margin stands at around 46%, with potential to reach between 52% and 55% once the industrialization process is completed.
- In addition to the main product sale, Avant Devices expects to generate recurring revenue through batteries, wheels, spare parts, maintenance, extended warranties, and future digital services.
- The estimated potential recurring revenue reaches €524 per active user per year.
Scalable sales channels
- The commercial model combines direct sales with a B2B2C approach through orthopedic stores, specialized distributors, associations, hospitals, mutual insurers, and rehabilitation centers.
- This strategy enables broader market reach and reduces customer acquisition costs.
- The company also considers opportunities for sales to clinics, nursing homes, insurance companies, public administrations, and accessibility programs, opening the door to higher-volume operations.
Differentiation and proprietary technology
- Explorer One is neither a full electric wheelchair nor a simple urban assistance system, but a modular all-terrain kit compatible with different manual wheelchairs.
- Avant Devices develops proprietary technology in motion control, electronics, hardware-software integration, and future connectivity capabilities.
- The company is also working on protecting its industrial design and on an intellectual property strategy that strengthens barriers to entry against competitors.
Expansion and strategic partnerships
- After the initial launch in Spain, the model is easily replicable in Portugal, Western Europe, North America, and Latin America through local partners and specialized channels.
- Avant Devices has already initiated collaborations with organizations such as D’Genes and ALIBER, facilitating product validation and access to communities with real mobility needs.
Team and execution
- The team combines real user experience, technological development, industrialization, automation, business management, marketing, and investment fundraising expertise.
- This combination enables a comprehensive approach to the company’s different growth and scaling phases.
Use of funds and value creation
- The €250,000 funding round will be allocated to completing CE certification, protecting industrial design, finalizing product development, manufacturing initial commercial batches, strengthening the team, and preparing for market launch.
- These resources are directly focused on reducing key risks and accelerating revenue generation.
Growth potential and investment opportunity
- The validation of certification, development of commercial channels, initial sales, and creation of an installed base could turn Avant Devices into an attractive target for international manufacturers of assisted mobility, orthopedics, power assist, and medical technology.
- The current funding round enables early-stage investment, before final certification and commercial launch, when key risk-reduction milestones are still to be achieved and may lead to significant future revaluation.
