Understanding the investment opportunity

Sounds Market began its activity in 2018 as a marketplace for second-hand musical instruments. Over time, as it did not achieve the expected growth, the founders identified an opportunity in the electronic music vertical, specifically in DJ equipment, which turned out to be the most popular product on the platform.

Therefore, at the end of 2022, while still being a marketplace, Sounds Market began to buy, refurbish, and resell this type of product, offering a one-year warranty. This strategy significantly increased its gross margin (from 4% to 28%) and its average ticket (from €500 to €1,600), directly impacting its revenue: in just two years and with the same team, Sounds Market went from earning less than €1,000/month to exceeding €80,000/month.

Today, supported by very favorable market dynamics —electronic music is trending and growing with a CAGR of between 6% and 8%, the circular economy continues to grow at double digits (Source) and the purchase of refurbished products is increasing due to greater environmental awareness (Source)—, Sounds Market is consolidating itself as the leading platform and reseller in the music sector, focused on electronic music equipment. It functions as a circular economy "all-in-one": users can not only safely buy and sell among themselves, but also interact directly with Sounds Market to buy, sell, or trade products.

The main business line continues to be recommerce of refurbished products, while the marketplace functions as a key tool to build community and capture future recommerce customers. Furthermore, Sounds Market makes its refurbishment workshop available to everyone to offer technical repair services for DJ equipment, diversifying revenue and strengthening its reputation by leveraging its own infrastructure. After outsourcing the technical service for three years, a technical in-house staff member was incorporated starting in the second half of 2025, significantly improving cost and time efficiency; thanks to this, the operational margin went from less than 15% in 2024 to exceeding 20% in some months of 2025.

Why do I invest in Sounds Market?

The Foundation manages a real estate and financial portfolio with the sole objective of maximizing its returns, within the limitations detailed below, in order to fulfill its foundational purpose by distributing said returns.

Due to the type of institution it is and the philosophy of the board of trustees that manages it, it does not invest everywhere. We do not want overly speculative investments and we try not to invest directly in certain sectors that do not comply with ESG standards.

We have invested in certain emerging companies whose projects we liked for their purpose. We currently have ongoing investments in the alternative energy sector, in a coworking space, in a portable piano, and we also invest in two fintech companies, one of which did not do well and the other very well.

We also participate in a company that grants microcredits to women in South America for the development of small projects, and we are now about to exit a container deposit project in the port of Barcelona.

Sounds Market is a project in which we initially invested in 2022 and which we continue to support in the next expansion, because we like the activity they carry out, giving new life to completely recyclable instruments, with all that this implies in terms of cost savings for society, and because of the spectacular growth it has had in recent years, which has allowed them to reach a positive EBITDA situation and dedicate the financing exclusively to growth and not to cover economic shortfalls.
