About Boodmo

The handbrake is also known as a parking brake or e-brake. It keeps the car motionless even when it is running uphill or downhill. Moreover, it is able to cope with a loaded car. It is very important to have a well operating parking brake. The working principle is simple. This is a drum brake, using friction to slow the speed. The friction is generated with pads. Usually, this brake has a cable which connects it with the brakes located on the wheels and further it is connected to a pulling mechanism. Being a self-locking system it locks in place when you activate it until you release it by pulling a lever or pressing a button depending on the type of the brakes. The modern cars can be equipped with manual, electronic, or hand- or foot-operated handbrakes. The statistics prove that only three in ten present-day vehicles have a manual unit. Actually, the electronic one is preferred more by the manufacturers.
