A car drum brake is a type of automotive brake that uses friction caused by a set of shoes or pads that press against the brake drum. The term generally means a car brake in which shoes press on the inner surface of the drum and when it press outside of the drum, it is known as clasp brake. These days several cars come with disc brakes at front and drum brakes at the rear. The auto drum brake comprises of more spare parts as compared to disc brakes and relatively harder to service. Moreover, such brakes are easy to manufacture and can incorporate emergency braking mechanism easily.
