PITCH Three Problems – Three Driving Challenges. Climate Change, Increasing Energy Demand & Waste Management, are three driving challenges the Cleantechs are called to solve. WtEnergy proprietary Cleantech is an Advanced Thermochemical Conversion Process (ATCP) that replaces the use of fossil fuels with Syngas generated from the transformation of industrial waste, domestic waste biomass and agricultural residues in a sustainable way. WtEnergy Cleantech reduces the Greenhouse Gases Emissions, guarantees the safe management of wastes, allows the recovery of valuable materials, and generate large economic savings for the user. WtEnergy Cleantech could be implemented in the small and medium size capacities, ranging from 1 to 50MWth. PROBLEM/ OPPORTUNITY Increasing energy demand from industries (chemical, pulp & paper, pharma, cosmetics, agro processing), that usually source their thermal energy demand from fossil fuels (mainly Natural Gas) which are increasingly more expensive. These industries also generate non-recyclable wastes with a profitable energy content that are currently landfilled or used deficiently. Small to mid-range communities are still managing their municipal waste with landfills. This municipal waste management solution leads to environmental damage such us aquifers contamination and greenhouse gases emissions, without taking advantage of the high energy content of the waste stream landfilled that is no longer profitable for recycling. Traditional Incineration Plants have large social rejection and are not feasible for small and medium scales. Main concerns from the European Commission Circular Economy Package (2017) include revised legislative proposals on waste such as a binding landfill target to reduce landfill to maximum of 10% of municipal waste by 2030. This legislation will force to promote technical solutions to use millions of tons of non-recyclable waste material for energy applications in the most efficient and sustainable way. It also considers concrete measures to promote re-use and stimulate industrial symbiosis –turning one industry's by-product into another industry's raw material. SOLUTION/PRODUCT WtEnergy Cleantech is an advanced fluid bed Gasification Technology that proved effective to transform waste into energy. It is an Advanced Thermochemical Conversion Process (ATCP) to generate Syngas from the Gasification of waste fuels like domestic waste, industrial waste, sludges, residual biomass and agricultural wastes. For the Industry, WtEnergy replaces the use of fossil fuels with Syngas generated from the Gasification of low cost residual wastes, including the wastes generated on the same industry. Clients will benefit from a waste management solution, cutting up to 80% of their fossil fuels bill and reduction of the CO2 emissions. For the Municipalities, the WtEnergy Cleantech can be implement for Distributed Power Generation Plants, using the non-recyclable fraction of the waste currently disposed on landfilled. This ATCO, is more efficient and sustainable technology than traditional Incineration Plants, or even compared to new technologies which depend on external energy for waste treatment. WtEnergy Cleantech is a low capex & opex solution, making feasible Power Generation Projects for small and medium scale municipalities. BUSINESS MODEL WtEnergy works in partnership with Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies and Energy Service Companies (ESCO) with good positioning over the energy sector, to commercialize, build & operate the waste to energy Projects. In the short term, WtEnergy licenses the Technology to EPCs & ESCOs with the goal of deploying medium size thermal installations which produce heat &/or power with waste management solutions for the industry and municipalities. In the mid-term, WtEnergy will partnership with local EPCs and ESCOs companies on Joint Ventures created to address the new markets & regions. The objective is to generate a fast worldwide expansion with strong presence with local partners for the deployment of WtEnergy Technology Projects, mainly ESCO Projects which will generate recurring incomes from selling of the renewable energy. MARKET The short term serviceable obtainable market for Thermal Applications are European mid-size Industries willing to incorporate clean technologies to use residual and renewable fuels to reduce their CO2 emissions, save up to 80% of their energy cost and valorize their own waste. The first Projects will be done on the animal by-product sector, with a €750 million estimated market. The Global market for Municipal Waste to Energy was estimated to have reached €30 billion in 2016 and will reach €40 billion by 2021 with a growth rate of 6.5% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years. Europe is the largest and most sophisticated market for WtE technologies. The Serviceable Available Market for Power Generation, are medium size municipalities keen on investing on their own waste management solutions that also allow to deploy distributed Power Generation with ATCP. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE WtEnergy Cleantech is already a proven technology. The WtEnergy Technology has been implemented on two Plants for Power Generation from Biomass and other two Plants for Waste to Thermal Applications on the Industry. WtEnergy Cleantech process provides better solutions than traditional waste valorization, regarding capex & opex, public acceptance, feedstock flexibility, near-zero emissions, efficiency and security. The License and JV approach, will lead to a fast expansion rate over international markets with local ready EPCs and ESCOs main actors. TRACTION New contract signed in 2018 for a 10 MWth WtEnergy Cleantech EPC Project in Galicia, Spain. Currently with other 18 open leads with clients in Spain, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom, Irland, LATAM, India & China.
