About Plug and Play Spain
Plug and Play Tech Center is a business accelerator that specializes in growing tech startups. Founded by Saeed Amidi and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, Plug and Play’s global network includes over 350 tech startups, over 180 investors and a community of leading universities and corporate partners. From unique industry networking events, education and immersion programs to M&A, Plug and Play has everything tech startups need to get organized, connect and grow.
Plug and Play Spain officially commenced operations in 2012 with the goal of accelerating entrepreneurial companies, increasing their access to the dynamic resources of Silicon Valley and increasing the chances of commercial success.
Plug and Play Spain co-invests in early-stage high-tech companies in the country, accelerates their growth and provides them with a direct route to Silicon Valley. In just two years we have accelerated and invested in more than 50 startups that have raised around 10 million euros in funding. Our goal is to invest in 100 startups by 2017.
Plug and Play Spain also invests in more mature startups and helps them reach the international market. Touristeye and Ducksboard are two examples of this policy. Touristeye was acquired back in 2013 by Lonely Planet, the world leader of the tourist guides sector, while Ducksboard was bought by New Relic in 2014. Quolaw, one of the startups from Plug and Play Spain’s first program, was acquired by vLex that same year.
In a time in which it is so difficult to build and grow a technology startup from scratch, Plug and Play Spain wants to build an inclusive environment with wide networks and strong support structures to help accelerate the most promising technological startups towards success.
